In a few days, from 9th to 11th May, the European Youth Event will bring more than 5,000 young people from all over Europe to Strasbourg to discuss their ideas for a better Europe.

While seminars and debates will take place inside the building of the European Parliament, the YO!Village will welcome participants in front of it, offering many workshops, stands and activities to share your ideas. One of them will be about the League of Young Voters.

The League of Young Voters is a politically neutral initiative that aims to amplify young people's concerns and expectations in the run-up to European elections. Established by the European Youth Forum, it is a movement across Europe designed by young people, for young people.

One of the main activities of the League of Young Voters will be the final of “Debate, Engage, Vote!”; led by the International Debate Education Association, a series of public debates by university students from the 28 European Member States culminates in a final European Cup debating tournament at the EYE.

The League of Young Voters will also continue its work, by raising awareness of its work over the last few months.

In addition to distributing its report on youth absenteeism at the 2009 European elections, visitors to the League stand will be encouraged to try out some of the web tools that have been developed by the League, such as the web guide to the European elections “Make your choice” and the comparison of the political parties manifestos “Who says what?”.

There will also be a screen at the stand, showing the different videos made for the League campaign: Happy Voting, Responsible Democracy, … A game about the European elections will also entertain people that drop by the stand.

And if the weather is nice enough, the LYV goodies should be quite useful…

See you there to make your choice!
