Cities and Regions: essential players to #youthUp Europe

08/10/2018

On Tuesday 25 September, Luis Alvarado, President of the European Youth Forum met with Karl-Heinz Lambertz, President of the Committee of the Regions, the EU institution representing regional and local authorities.

On this occasion, the European Youth Forum joined the #CohesionAlliance, a coalition of demanding that the EU budget after 2020 makes cohesion policy stronger, more effective, visible and available for every region in the European Union.

This meeting was also the opportunity to discuss the common objectives between the European Youth Forum and the Committee of the Regions in putting young people at the heart of the debate on the Future of Europe. Bringing these discussions at local and regional levels is essential and our Member Organisations play a key role in this regard.

Last but not least, Luis Alvarado and Karl-Heinz Lambertz discussed the European Youth Capital title, celebrating ten years of successes, as a tool to empower young people to make a change in their local communities and for cities to take a leading role in bringing more youth friendly practices in their day-to-day activities.
