The competition to become European Youth Capital 2025 is heating up! After receiving applications from 19 cities, the Jury has now shortlisted our final four.

The European Youth Capital year is an opportunity for young people to play an active role in shaping the community where they live and having a stronger say on the decisions that affect them. Throughout the application process, cities are encouraged to showcase how they are working together with young people to ensure that year will reflect their ideas, interests and opinions.

We hope that each of these applicants will continue to strive to be youth-inclusive cities, and as part of the Youth Capital process, we are committed to providing feedback on their application. We also look forward to continuing to work with those cities that were not shortlisted but wish to re-apply for the title in the future.
Next steps
In the next round of the competition, the shortlisted cities have until 23 June 2022 to submit a more detailed application outlining an extensive programme of youth-related cultural, social and political events and activities.
The shortlisted cities will again receive recommendations on their detailed applications from the independent jury and a focus group, and will submit their final, updated applications on 10 October 2022.
Then the shortlisted cities will have a last chance to convince the EYC 2025 Selection Jury why they should be awarded the title at the Jury meeting taking place prior the official Award Ceremony in November 2022, where the winner will be announced.
