Record number of volunteers apply to volunteer for European Youth Event 2014
The European Youth Forum, a partner organisation of the European Parliament in organising the event, has received 600 applications from young people wanting to volunteer at this year’s European Youth Event (EYE 2014) in Strasbourg. Select participants will be notified within the next week if they have been chosen to volunteer.
The European Youth Event 2014 will be held at the European Parliament in Strasbourg on 9th – 11th May and 5,000 young people from across Europe are signed up to attend. The three-day event, themed around “Ideas for a Better Europe”, will feature political debates, educational workshops and cultural activities focused on five core themes: youth unemployment, digital revolution, the future of the European Union, sustainability and European values. EYE 2014 will give young Europeans the chance to meet European decision makers and debate the future of Europe in fun, innovative ways.
Attendees at EYE 2014 will also be able to continue the fun by joining the European Youth Forum as it hosts its annual YO! Fest. The popular event includes the interactive YO! Village, high-profile concerts and more opportunities to engage with youth organisations and attend diverse political workshops encouraging interaction and stimulating participants to share their ideas and experiences. There will be many theatrical, musical and artistic performances throughout the village as well as the YO! Café, a place to relax, meet new people and continue discussing topics they are passionate about.
Volunteers at EYE 2014 will take on a diverse range of roles including providing information and orientation to participants, supporting partners and youth organisations as they run their activities, facilitating innovative discussions in the ‘YO! Café’ and helping guide and assist speakers, guests, artists and musicians throughout the event.
We would like to thank everyone for their interest and look forward to seeing you at EYE 2014!
