Taskforce on the European Elections - LoveYouthFuture

11/02/2014

LoveYouthFuture (LYF), the European Youth Forum’s European Election campaign is today and tomorrow (11th-12th February) organising a taskforce to facilitate the inclusion and participation of Youth Forum members in the 2014 European Elections.

This meeting is a follow-up of a taskforce in October 2013 on the same subject. The aim of the taskforce is to raise awareness among members about the LoveYouthFuture campaign, ensuring their involvement in the different activities led by the Forum and the actions and outreach of the campaign. Through the outreach of its members - the taskforce will also raise awareness among MEPs and MEP candidates about the Youth Forum’s campaign.

The 2014 European Elections campaign will be a unique opportunity to highlight youth rights and the key issues that effect young people, with the alarming background of high rates of unemployment and, therefore, unseen rates of social exclusion.

The European Union needs today a new deal “for and with Youth” to exit from the crisis and improve the situation of young people. This is now urgent in order to increase citizens’ participation in decision-making, to implement sustainable policies, to invest in employment, to create an effective European social model and to guarantee access to quality education for all.

Read our position paper to see how the EU can meet these challenges. The Youth Forum has developed a list of demands (Pledges) from this position paper. The LoveYouthFuture campaign will focus on ensuring that MEPs and MEP candidates endorse them. You can find the pledges here: www.loveyouthfuture.eu/pledges.
