Youth Democracy in Action! Highlights from our Council of Members
Over 100 youth representatives from across the continent joined together this weekend to be part of one of the biggest youth democratic processes in Europe!
Our online bi-annual Council of Members (COMEM), which took place 17-18 April, saw great displays of youth activism; from inspiring debates and collaborative thinking, to innovative ideas and representation of diverse views from all over Europe. We want to thank all our delegates who took part, and whose energy and ambition will continue to shape the Youth Forum for months and years to come!
For those who missed it, here are some top highlights from our first COMEM of 2021:
New Full Member!
The Youth Forum family continues to grow stronger. We are happy to announce that the National Youth Council of Ukraine is now a Full Member of the European Youth Forum. Well done NYCUkraine!
New Motion Adopted
Our Member Organisations adopted a new motion on Human Rights Violations in Western Sahara. This is not the first time that the Youth Forum has voiced its concerns about the situation of the Western Sahara conflict, and delegates again reiterated the need for solidarity between young people, and for the protection of human rights throughout the world.
Advisory Council on Youth Elections
We were also excited to host the elections for the Advisory Council on Youth of the Council of Europe. These elections take place every two years, where Member Organisations of the European Youth Forum are able to nominate candidates to represent the voice of young people within the Council of Europe’s youth sector, helping to shape priorities, programmes and budgets.
Once again, thank you to all of the nominees whose names were put forward in these elections. We have no doubt that you will continue your great work for youth rights!
